A real Himalayan view
Rooms face the ridgeline, not a parking lot. Mornings here start with mist lifting off the valley and end with the monastery lit up against the dark.
A family-run homestay on Gyanggong Ani Gompa Road — a short walk from the nunnery, minutes from Tawang Monastery, and the right base for Sela Pass, Madhuri Lake and Bum La.

Thukpa, momos, zan and red rice — cooked by the family, eaten together. Tell us what you can and can't eat and we will simply cook that instead.
Which day to attempt Bum La. When Sela is likely to close. Where the crowds aren't. We live here, so the advice costs you nothing.
Neykor means pilgrimage — the slow, deliberate kind of journey people have made to Tawang for centuries. Our family has lived on this hillside for generations, and the homestay grew out of a simple habit: guests kept arriving, and we kept finding room for them.
There is no front desk and no uniform. You will be met at the door, handed butter tea, and shown where things are. In the evening we eat together if you would like to, and if you would rather have a quiet night with the heater on and the door closed, that is completely fine too.
Every room has an attached bathroom with hot water, heating, and bedding built for a Tawang winter. Rates include breakfast and all taxes.

We will help you plan the order, book a driver you can trust, and tell you honestly which days the passes are worth attempting.
The largest monastery in India and the second largest in the world, founded in the 1680s. Go early, while the morning prayers are still running.
13,700 feet, with a lake that stays frozen much of the year. This is the gateway you cross to reach Tawang at all.
A gilded Buddha seated above the town on a painted pedestal, with the valley opening up behind it. Best in the late afternoon light.
A traditional cane and bamboo suspension bridge strung across the river, hung with prayer flags. It sways, and that is part of it.
Shonga-tser Lake — dead trees standing in glacial water, formed by the earthquake of 1950. Otherworldly in any weather.
The India–China border at 15,200 feet. Needs a permit arranged a day ahead, which we will sort out for you.
Also within reach: Nuranang Falls, the Tawang War Memorial, PTSo Lake and the Jaswant Garh memorial on the road in. Ask us and we will plan the order around the weather.
Real words from people who have stayed with us.
“Paste a real guest review here — a Google review, a Booking.com comment, or a message a guest sent you on WhatsApp.”
“Second placeholder. Reviews that mention something specific — the food, the heating, help with a permit — persuade far better than generic praise.”
“Third placeholder. Three is enough to start — add more as they come in.”
Send the form and we will reply with availability and a total — usually the same day. In a hurry? WhatsApp is fastest.
Getting here takes planning. Ask us anything the list below does not cover.
Yes. Indian citizens need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh, which you can apply for online or collect at Tezpur, Guwahati or Bhalukpong. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit (PAP), which takes longer and must be arranged in advance. Send us your dates and we will walk you through it.
The usual route is to fly into Guwahati or Tezpur, then drive. It is roughly 320 km from Tezpur and takes two days with an overnight stop at Dirang or Bomdila — the road climbs over Sela Pass at 13,700 feet. There is also a helicopter service from Guwahati when the weather allows. We can arrange a driver for the whole journey.
March to October is the most reliable window. April–June is clear and mild, September–October gives the sharpest mountain views after the monsoon. December–February is beautiful under snow, but Sela Pass closes without warning and travel becomes unpredictable — come then only with flexible plans.
Tawang sits at about 10,000 feet. Most people are fine, but take the first day slowly, drink more water than feels necessary, and skip alcohol the first night. If you are driving up over Sela in one push, expect to feel it. We keep the rooms warm and the tea coming.
We have Wi-Fi in the house and it is usually good enough for messaging, maps and calls. Mobile coverage in Tawang town is reasonable on most networks, but it thins out fast once you head toward the passes. Power cuts happen; they are rarely long.
Yes. Tell us when you book and we will plan the meals around it. Vegetarian is no trouble at all, and we manage vegan and Jain requirements with a bit of notice.
Rooms fill fast between April and October, and around Losar and the Torgya festival. Message us and we will hold one for you.
